🍫 Toblerone loses the right to use the iconic Matterhorn mountain logo©

Tempo de Leitura //

With the relocation of some of the manufacturing of the Toblerone chocolates to Slovakia, the company that owns the trademark is losing the right to use the image of the Alpine Matterhorn mountain on the packaging.
Under Swiss legislation approved in 2017, known as the “Swissness Act”, “a company can only use national symbols, such as the Matterhorn, if it uses raw materials from Switzerland (100% for milk and dairy products) and a large part of the production is carried out in Swiss territory”.
According to information disclosed by the owner of the Toblerone brand, the chocolate packaging will have a new design with a modernised and simplified mountain logo that aligns with the geometric and triangular aesthetic of the Toblerone chocolate bars.
The brand considers that the decision to move production to Slovakia was necessary, not only in response to a strong increase in demand worldwide, but also to promote future growth.
